Winner Of The Compassion Challenge
I wanted to announce the winner of the Book Of Virtues for Young People, on Friday, but it was my Grandpa’s birthday and I really needed to go visit his grave and get some peace. In fact, I spent a few days at his house, just to release some of my grief, so that I can move on. As I sat in his chair, I thought about how compassionate a man my Grandpa was. He was the perfect example of a servant to others. I felt so grateful that he taught me much of my beliefs about compassion and set such a fine example for me. Then, I began to feel terrible that I do not always follow his example. For instance, when I wrote that angry post about spreading germs. That was not something that my Grandpa would have been proud to know that I did. I felt like I let him down in my failure to show compassion, just because I had been struggling with his passing. I felt compelled to renew my commitment to be a compassionate person, so that my own children will have a good example, just as I had in Grandpa.
That being said, I would like to congratulate Lyn, for winning the contest. The real winners, however, will be our children for having learning invaluable lessons on the much needed art of compassion. Kudos to everyone who shared their ideas during that discussion. You are all appreciated for your contributions to this blog!
