To groom or not to groom
When it comes to my pets, I don’t feel comfortable grooming them myself outside of the standard weekly maintenance bathing. There are some things I just prefer to leave to the professionals.
Today Molly took her first trip to the groomer - I prefer to call it puppy spa - it just sounds better. Given the fact that she’s so very tiny, I wanted to make certain I found someone that was familiar with and had experience grooming tiny yorkies. Fortunately that hunt didn’t go beyond my first call. I went with my gut and selected one in an area I felt would cater to “foo foo dogs.”
When Molly was dropped off, she was looking a sad state. Her puppy fur was beginning to mat a bit more then when I’d gotten her. Thus the reason for the pro - I didn’t feel comfortable combing her out for fear of hurting her.
When I went to pick my tiny, under 1 pound baby up, she looked so proud and happy. It was as if she just knew she looked beautiful.
Nothing hurts me more then to see animals who are loyal to families and go uncared for. Pets have a sense of pride too! They need bathed, combed or brushed and need constant love.
Around my neck of the woods, if a pet is unkept, left without water, food or proper shelter - I report them without hesitation and I urge others to do the same.
This is what a happy, healthy, clean Molly looks like…
While this isn’t exactly a “guerilla parenting” topic, it is a topic that needs much attention.
Please care for your pets - if you can’t, give them up to someone who can. There are rescues for every breed where you can surrender your dogs or cats to rescues who will find them good homes.
If you can’t find a rescue, you are welcome to drop me an email and I’ll contact the rescue I’ve adopted from before. I’m sure they have a network of some sort.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I totally agree with you about caring for your pets, I have 4 dogs myself only because the mother and father had puppies (oops) before I could get her fixed, and had 6 puppies 4 of which I was able to give away thus keeping the last 2, who are almost 2 years old now, anyway maybe someday I can find good homes for them, I did get them all fixed except the daddy, I think when they are around 12 or 13 they deserve to be left alone even thought he is still a naughty boy if he gets out of the fence! I firmly believe in taking good care of your pets, but its also important to get them spayed or neutered and keep them free of pests. Also, your puppy is very very cute and beautiful with her new haircut!!!

I just gave my Shih Tzu (Lily) a spring haircut. I loved her with her long hair, but she she was getting hard to keep brushed out. She’s so proud of her new spring do.
I usually clip her and bathe her myself, I worked my way through college grooming dogs for others so it’s really something I still enjoy.

Having been a VP for the local humane society for several years, I could not agree more. Caring for pets, having them neutered and spayed, getting them regular vet checks are all things that need to be considered prior to taking the animal home.
It was my job to help the vet put the unwanted animals down. Too many times it was a “cute puppy” that had grown up.
