Ok if taking care of those kids keeps you THAT thin, I’d like to talk to you about putting Kirstie Alley out of biz by launching a new weight loss program.
We can talk about that later though ;) Must. Stay. Focused.

Gayla- haha, I do that for many things. Hubby hates it. shoes must be at the door, toys go in certain area, stuffed animals a certain corner, same with books, barbies, baby toys, etc. Dishwasher plates on one side, pans on the other, etc.

Mar 5, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Wow I don’t know what to say. I think it’s great that Daniel was willing to set his own feelings aside for Kadi like that. I can understand the position Kadi and Daniel take in not agreeing, but to love someone doesn’t mean you have to love everything about them.
Julie

Aw, I feel like I know you now Kadi. :)

I agree Karen, it’s by far one of the best. And I’m not just saying that because it’s Kadi. It’s truly one of the best!

Yes, it is hard to put aside those differences for a relationship. My grandpa chose to cheat on my grandma for many years. It was so hard to deal with sometimes, but in order to have a relationship with him, we had to put it aside. It still affected our relationship though. There’s no way that it couldn’t in some way.

I would love to talk to you Kadi about helping you with your son who was labled with ADHD. You can completely reverse his behaiver through the foods he eats. I have been teaching classes for the last 10 years on organic eating, natural medicine etc. Every child I have dealt with over the last 10 years has been taken off all medication and living totally normal lives. If you are interested please e mail me or go to my website http://www.chooselifeeatright.com
You have a beautiful family.

Karen it is tough to forgive and set personal feelings aside. As much as I love my parents, there were times I went without speaking to them. I always try to remember to “love the sinner, not the sin” :)

Thanks everyone for watching with me. I know it will mean a lot to Kadi when she reads all the comments.
Karen, I’m really glad you got to see a whole episode of something - makes me feel so special to be a part of your very first :P
This has been a lot of fun peeps! I absolutely adore ya’s.
I’ll be around for a while if ya’ll feel like hanging out. I’ve got some catching up to do. If not, have a good one!

Gayla: You took the words out of my mouth. I was going to say, “Love the sinner and not the sin.”
I know I’m getting off subject here, but today I was reading HomeLife magazine (my fave) and there was a story in there about how a 16 year old girl that attended church got pregnant. Her parents were devastated and were concerned about what others would think. They were surprised when the church people showed them love, were there to listen, shared personal stories, and threw her a baby shower. That’s what church people should do. We shouldn’t kick the sinner when they’re down. We should show them love. Anyway, I was so touched by that today.

Mar 5, 2008 at 9:15 pm
That’s a good story Karen. To me, a true example of what real Christians should act like. Not judge, but love in spite of sin or fault. It’s amazing at just how much we will hurt the feelings of our family at the expense of the feelings of our family, isn’t it?

My husband and I were watching supernanny and we kept looking to see if we could tell whether or not the family was LDS. I had to check on the internet right away, and here I am. First, the family is just so beautiful!
This episode made me feel so sad though in many ways. For Kadi’s heartbreak with her father, and for her feeling like she was failing in many ways. 7 kids and could she be anymore thin? Her house is beautiful and clean, and still, she struggles with feeling like she isn’t making the grade. She is not alone in this, I think lots of us Mormon moms struggle with this. My hat is off to Kadi for her honesty and her bravery! Thanks so much.

Hey Kadi and Daniel, I went to Chino High with you guys I graduated in 95, and just watched the show.I am The parent of 5 kids and can totally feel were you are coming from. You guys should pat yourselfs on the back for how great you guys did. Your kids are lucky to have two parents who love eachother so much. Your kids are no diffrent then any other kids that have alot of siblings to get along with, imagine if you had to live every second of everyday with 6 people you love but can drive you up the wall because they are all so diffrent then you. Just remember god gave you those kids to teach and love and learn from and he would never give you more then you can handle. You guys did awesome My husband never watches supernanny and watched tonight because we can relate to working so hard and feeling like your going no where.Keep doing what your doing with your kids because loving your kids makes up for alot of little mistakes you make throughot the day, your kids will remember how much you love them not the little mistakes. God Bless you guys you are great parents…

So, I have to say I love the name Marley, we considered that name for Cedar. Yup, just talking to myself. So…
I think I’ll come back later, after the show is over. :D
horton heard who?
Mar 5, 2008 at 11:41 pm
wow, such a young mother with 7 kids, and only a year aprt each. I was wondering if the family was LDS also since the Jo seemed to imply that Kadi had so many children to please her husband. And his fear and intolerance of homosexuality, reminds me very much of the stories I’ve read at http://www.exmormon.org/boards/w-agora/index.php?bn=exmobb_biography
Where the wives are so lonely, isolated and often depressed. I’m glad this family was able to get the help they needed from Jo, good luck Kadi!

So sorry that I missed out on this chat session. My husband blew a fuse in the living room and it messed up my internet connection :(
I almost missed the show!!! You are all so wonderful and I will be happy to answer any questions that you have in a blog post. We can even do an interview session, Gayla, if you’d like. Thanks for all of the support last night! I needed it :)

The jury is still out at our house as to whether or not the Precotts are Mormon.
Yay:
7 kids. Pretty common
Clean cut
Kids have interesting/weird names
The way the house is
Kadi’s struggle with feeling like she isn’t doing enough
Nay:
She swears, (not a deal breaker, but pretty uncommon in LDS world)
She claims to drink wine, (might have been kidding, we kid about it too)
I haven’t had time to read her whole blog yet, so there could be other clues I missed.
Other guesses:
Born Again Christian
Catholic
It was just fun to puzzle about. It is meaningless really and if and whatever religion they are, they are a credit to their church is all I have to say!

Mar 6, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Jo, I can’t remember which post exactly, but I believe Kadi commented at one point in time that she was indeed Christian. I’ll double check with her and see if we can’t get an answer directly from her.

That was a great show Kadi. I know a lot of what really happens ends up on the cutting room floor, but never before have parents really quickly grasped the concepts that Jo teaches like you and your husband did. Generally Jo has to go over things when she comes back, and watches the DVD footage and points out the things you did wrong. In this case, there didn’t seem to be anything wrong!! Great job!
And by the way you do have a beautiful family. Are you sure you aren’t a model instead of a stay-at-home mommy!? :-)

I missed the beginning of the show. I think I was changing a poopie diaper at the time.
I was able to see the parts that showed her neighbors coming over to introduce themselves.
I LOVED the hearts!
I would like to know from Kadi how she balances her time between computer and parenting. I struggle with that one BIG time.
I am so glad that there is an oppourtunity to have a relationship with your Dad again!
I took the time to look something up today:
Matthew 22: 34-40
Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandement in the Law?”
Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
This reinforces the idea of loving the sinner and not the sin.
