Hair today, gone tomorrow
Last night I had the painful experience of taking four teens to get their hair cut and some highlights.
Normally that doesn’t seem all that major, but when you have a girl that wants her hair short like a boys and have boys who want their hair long like girls, there’s a problem.
Not saying it’s all skate boarders, but around here, the skate boarder wannabe’s have long hair - the you’re never going to see my eyes kind of hair.
Me - four words - “NOT in my house!”
Since one of the kids stayed after school for a club meeting, I had to drop three off, go pick up the other and return. By the time I returned, here was one kid ready to be rinsed, one kid under the dryer and one setting in the hot seat in the process of getting a haircut.
The haircut was the girl who ALMOST got away with getting the short hair. Fortunately I stepped in, discussed options with the stylist since the haircut was already underway. Ended up that dad liked it which was most important because as far as he’s concerned if a girl wants her hair short like a boy she might as well go all Britney Spears with it.
The one under the dryer had the stylist pull hair through a cap all the way around his head. I didn’t really think much of it, until she had his hair cut. Upon examining the haircut, I told him it was WAY to long and more would have to come off.
Oh dear, do you even know what happened?
When she took a little more off - spots began to appear, all over his head! BIG glaring WHITE spots where strands of highlighted locks used to be.
Well, let’s just say I figured out how to get a kid that never seems to shut up to not want to talk for going on two full days now.
Who knew that hair follicles were directly attached to the jaws?

Oh, I can’t wait for the long haired boys phase to phase itself right on out. I hate the shaggy look. Sure it’s cute on some boys but not all of them. Mostly, it looks dirty and messy and you can’t see their eyes. Which, according to my father, is a sign that they have something to hide. =)
