Do Rude Children Reflect Poor Parenting?

by Gayla on May 15th, 2007

Do you think rude children reflect poor parenting? Or are we witnessing the growing influence of peer pressure?

I’ve seen kids who have some of the most amazing parents I know - of course I can’t say what goes on behind closed doors and when I’m not around, but when these kids are away from their parents, they are the most ill behaved brats I’ve ever seen.

I’ve seen kids push eldery people out of the way or crowd them while trying to beat them through the door of Wal-Mart. We’ve heard the stories of teens abusing the elderly and younger children.

What is driving our teens to pay such little respect and what do you think we can do to combat it?

Should couples that don’t have time to raise their own children really have them?

I’m interested in hearing what you have to say!

Here is another post on a different blog asking what’s up with today’s kids. You can read my comment to his post over there. It’s lengthy and opinionated to be sure, but I stand by what I stated there.

ugh, I’d like to know what is up with kids these days. As ya already know, my street was hit by taggers during the week. They should’ve been in bed at that hour. How did the parents NOT know? So, at this point I’m saying it is both parents and children.

I agree, it’s as much the parents as the kids. When kids behave badly, I think the parents should be called on the carpet just the same. Perhaps then, the parents would keep closer watch on their kids.

I have four teens, I KNOW it can be done!
