Away In A Birthing Suite…

by kadi on March 3rd, 2008

J-Lo’s recent double delivery came with a heft price tag, according to Daily Mail, and many other sources. The hospital stay, birth and postpartum care cost her and hubby, Marc Anthony, a whopping 1.4 million dollars.

Holy crap! Can I just ask what these celebrities are doing in the hospital that would cost such an ungodly amount of money? I know that the newborn picture packages the hospital offers are a pretty penny, but sheesh! I’d love to see the birthing suite that these women get to stay in… no wait, I wouldn’t. It would probably sicken me.

I gave birth to all of my babies at the regular old community hospital, which compared to some women I’ve heard of, is a luxury! There are tales of women who copped a squat in the field, popped out their little bundle of joy, and slapped that kid in a sling so that they wouldn’t miss a day of work. Furthermore, I think we’ve all heard of Mary, who birthed the Christ child in a stable, then placed Him in a manger. That baby was the only Son of God, but you didn’t see Mary checking into a posh birthing suite! Apparently, little Max and Emme have a daddy who’s richer than God (or spends money like it!)

I guess that the bill wasn’t such a big deal, when you take into account the six million dollars that they will be receiving for their babies’ first photos. Does anyone else see the disgusting greed that is spawned by our society’s obsession with celebrity worship?

I have this logic for deciding which celeb parents I love, and which ones I despise - the ones who sell their baby pics are lower than low in my book. A little extreme, maybe, but I can’t find anything to justify it.
And I don’t buy the “we’re giving the money to charity” bit. What, you can’t afford a couple of measly millions to donate to charity without selling your pictures?!!

First thing I thought of when I saw what they named their babies was “OMG they named their children after the kids in the DRAGONTAILS cartoon? ”

I guess I’ve been watching too much PBS that I’d notice that.
