Advice Needed 1-5-06

Explanation of the advice feature is here.
Today’s question is from Katia (what a pretty name!) This is a problem many mothers have experienced, so maybe we can help her out.
Hello,
I need some help. I have a 15month old baby that I cannot get to sleep. He wants to sleep with me in my room. I try to put him in his crib and crying crying till he can’t breathe. This is getting very bad at night when I have to put him to bed I also have a 3 year old that wants me to sleep with her in her bed.
So this is not working out. So what I do is I go in her room with my 15month baby and myself and that’s how I get them to bed. But it does not always work because they start playing and then I get frustrated and on and on. I need some guidance before my blood pressure starts rising.
Please help me out. Thank you so much.

I am a Mother of 3 children, 2 grown who are doing very well. And an 11 year old daughter who is gifted beautiful and intelligent and challenging me constantly. I am concerned about the downward spiral effect and how I can redirect the momentum.
For my part, I am a recovering addict. She has experienced a great deal due to that. Though to be clear, I have never sunk to many of the levels I saw in the lives of my fellow addicts. No excuses for my conduct, however it could have been sooo much worse at my hands had I not consciously not gone to those places. This forum does not allow for a comprehensive analysis of the dynamics involved.
Suffice it to say, I am clean and have been for nearly 2 yrs, except for a 48hr period last February 2005.
I need guidance and I respect your approach in every circumstance I have viewed it.
I welcome questions which would hopefully lead to clarity.
Signing off for now, Shannon

hi i am peggie-sue and believe it or not i had that exacy problem with my son when he was born my daughter was only three. I tried everything to get him to sleep panadol, herbal sprays, toys and i had alson contacted a sleep centre but nothing seemed to work. he would wake about 2hrs after sleeping and that was only if i could get him to sleep. Try sitting becide his bed for a few moments but do not pick him up i know that it is hard but he will know that you are their and gradually move away from his bed each night until you no longer have to sit their. and for your three year old maby explain to her that mummy is having trouble sleeping in her bed and that if mummy gets lots of sleep their will be more time for fun in the morning. I do truley hope that your peoblem can be resolved as i know from personal experance how tired and irritable you must feel hold your head up high. And feel proud of anything you try.
