Advice Needed: 1-12-06

by Gayla McCord on January 12th, 2006

Our next question is from Janice. I KNOW we’ve all had this problem before! Let’s see if we can help. (Also, we have a new poll feature in the sidebar. it will contain common problems and questions experienced by parents, so be sure to vote.)

We are going away for 4 weeks and will be staying in hotels, eating out etc. How can we retain some sort of routine when the routine is not bath, bed - closed door -lights out etc…

Just pick one or two routines, like bath or a familiar story before bed, and a time when kids absolutely have to be in bed. Four weeks is a long time so you’ll want to have some kind of routine like the one you have at home. But don’t expect it to be exactly the same, cause that’s impossible. When I was on vacation with hubby and our toddler, the first thing that went were the naps. And it turned out ok, we just got back to it when we came back home.

My sister has a 3 year old girl and when she does not want to eat she will take a bite of food and make herself gag on it, to the point of regurgitate. What kind of advise do you have for her to get her to stop doing that?
